Pre-cruise
While Barbara and I have been on a few cruises, this one on the Hurtengruten Trollfjord would be a first. The Trollfjord is a working ferry that does everything from moving supplies, mail, cars and passengers along the coast of Norway. Hurtengruten has been doing this for over 120 years. Over the ten days we will be aboard, the Trollfjord will sail over 1,000 miles of Norway's coast from Bergen to the Russian border and back again. Along the way, it will stop in thirty-four coastal communities, sometimes for 15 minutes, other times for 3-4 hours. While this is a working ferry it does have accommodations for 822 passengers. And like most cruises, there will be lots of good food. Unlike most cruise however, there no entertainment, no casino, no theater. The star of the cruise is the Norwegian scenery, countryside and towns.

It will be fun to follow as you go many places we just saw on the Prinsendam. Are you going overland to Bergen and then back overland from Trondheim? We just did one way from Bergen to Kirkenes when we took the ferry. Kahtrav
ReplyDeleteHi Karen! That is exactly what we will be doing taking the train to Bergen to get on and the train from Trondheim to come back. The train rides are supposed to be beautiful!
